Starting Our Week With A Bang

This week started out with a bang!
Literally.

Big Sis wore some new shoes and that was fun.
But that afternoon, while running to find me in the study, she tripped (and she wasn't wearing the heels) way too close to the corner of the wall and well, the picture shows what happened.

Blood all over her head. Huge wound. It was our first ER experience. I was calm up until I handed her to the nurse, and then I cried. The nurses were so calm, though, and got Big Sis comfortable and watching cartoons, that I quickly calmed down too.

They cleaned out the wound, and then glued her back together.

Big Sis hated it for the following reasons:
#1. They wrapped her up so she wouldn't wiggle away or get her hands in the way...not good for the kid who HATES how "tight" her seatbelt is.
#2. The light was too bright.
#3. They sprayed her cut with water...and it was cold.

I survived that part without crying again. Big Sis calmed down quickly once it was over.

Major blessings and miracles of the day:
#1. She didn't pass out, or throw up...which would've been signs of more serious head wounds.
#2. She calmed down so quickly in the ER, and again after they fixed her up.
#3. Baby Beluga was calm and happy the ENTIRE time. Except at the beginning when she was woken up from her lovely nap by Big Sis's screaming.
#4. My sister was still with us and helped us get to the ER.
#5. The ER is literally around the corner from my house...as in there is an entrance to the parking lot from my tiny subdivision without getting on major roads.
The Lord is mindful of us.

Now this is how we roll. She's got to keep it covered to prevent super dark scarring.

Then on Wednesday, our neighbors tree fell over. It had been stormy but we didn't think it was particularly windy. And we didn't even hear it even though we were home.

Huge blessing--it fell on the sidewalk, not on our car or house or anyone walking around.

The center of the tree was rotting. What a great analogy for our lives. You can look great on the outside, but if your heart is not centered on Jesus Christ and His Gospel then you'll fall over when the winds/trials, big or small, come.

Glad everything worked out ok! Such beautiful children you have too. You are missed in 9th ward. Great tree analogy.

Oh, goodness. Poor Big Sis! And that's crazy about the tree... was it by chance the one leaning like crazy over the road?
